Information About Jerry Fedler Construction
What does your company build ? Our current area of work is single family residential construction; new construction, additions and remodels. We also have years of experience in building and renovating commercial structures; motels, restaurants, apartments, stores, a veterinary clinic, a library, other public buildings and many projects as a subcontractor at Bandon Dunes Resort (Bandon Trails clubhouse, remodel of existing clubhouse, guest cottages, and various support buildings).
Where have you done work ? We have done work through out Coos County: Bandon, North Bend, Coos Bay, Coquille and Reedsport in Douglas County
What projects have you done for homeowners ? In the past, we have done all kinds of residential construction from large projects (custom homes) to smaller jobs (re-modeling and repairs). As of this year (2017), we are doing mostly new construction.
What materials and techniques do you use for building in a coastal environment ? Building on the southern Oregon coast can be a challenge because of the weather. The primary concern is how to keep moisture out of the building. Correct installation of windows, siding and roofing can help avoid problems later. It's also important to use the right materials. We use only stainless steel fasteners, flashings, door hinges, and joist hangers on building exteriors to prevent metal from rusting. We also use materials appropriate to a high wind and rain area: wind rated composition roofing (90 mph) and either wood, shingle siding or Hardi-Board lap siding. With new construction projects, we will install footing, foundation and rain drains to move water away from the building.
How can you help homeowners with their building projects ? We will work with you through the design phase, organize and submit documents and plans to the required government agencies, help in the choice of materials, discuss the benefits versus costs of different design choices, watch the lumber market for the best prices and timing of orders, keep you informed of the job progress with weekly reports and complete your project within the scheduled time.
Who will be supervising on the job site ? Jerry will be on the job site every day working with the employees, scheduling deliveries of materials and directing the subcontractors. Most of the time, Jerry will be there working along with the rest of the crew. He will be available to answer any questions, offer suggestions or alternatives and deal with problems as they arise.
Is there anything else you can tell us about your company ? We have very clean, organized job sites (both our homeowners and the Building Inspectors have commented on this many times).
